Syrian Hands Joins FWEAP’s Refugee Support Networking Event
Representatives from various NPOs and organizations supporting refugees in and outside Japan gathered on Tuesday 11th, Feb. 2025 for a meaningful exchange of experiences and challenges in volunteer activities. The event, organized by FEWAP, brought together participants from diverse backgrounds, including Afghanistan, Cambodia, Laos, Iran, Ukraine, Syria, and Japan.
Syrian Hands was proudly represented by Yaman Sensei and Rika-san, who actively engaged in discussions and shared insights on our work supporting Syrian orphans, education, and refugee families. The agenda included small group discussions, networking, and reflections on last year’s Asia Friendship Festival, where participants exchanged ideas to enhance this year’s event in November.
As part of our contributions, Syrian Hands proposed introducing a Syrian sweets booth, an Arabic calligraphy station, and ensuring that each country’s food stall includes a vegetarian option. This would allow more people, including Muslims, to fully enjoy and appreciate the diverse cuisines on offer. Our suggestions were well received, and we are hopeful to see them incorporated into the upcoming festival.
This event was a valuable opportunity to strengthen collaboration with like-minded organizations and continue our mission of cultural exchange and refugee support. We look forward to future partnerships and to bringing Syrian culture to a wider audience in Japan.
